Why passionate about Madagascar ?
I put my feet on the Red Island for the first time in February 2004. After a serious car accident in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the end of 2003 I decided to take a break from my fast pace international career in marketing and to give a year of my life for others. Why was it Madagascar, only God knows... I looked for a while to find an interesting organization that would take me close to the people, not to the piles of papers and projects to manage. Finally I came across a Missionary Organization – they seem to be challenging enough for me. Those guys are tough, never run when problems start and immerse into the local culture easily. That’s what I wanted. With MWDB – a Polish leg of international - Don Bosco Network and VIS (Volontariato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo) – I left Europe for a year to work in the suburbs of Antananarivo (Ivato), the capital of Madagascar. Teaching at Centres de Formation Professionnelle various subjects in French (basics of law, economy, marketing, communications, English language) I had a marvelous experience working with destitute children and youth. That was really mind opening! Then a news surprise came. In 2005 I was offered a job of Head of Marketing at one of the biggest local companies Brasseries STAR / Coca Cola. That’s was yet an another adventure. During that time I co-created with my dear friend Albert a Polish-Malagasy Association POLka (Madagascar) and co-created a My Baobab Foundation (Poland) with Gosia and Adam. I left Madagascar in 2007 but stayed in touch with so many wonderful people, and I am still working and helping various organizations, such as “TWINS”.
